5 Healthy Snacks to Keep You on Track

#1: Hummus and Crackers

It's no mistake that this is number one. Hummus and crackers is my favorite snack, morning or afternoon. Hummus is a delicious dip made from olive oil, chickpeas, lemon juice and salt. You can make it yourself, or find it at your local grocery store. It's rich in protein, savory, and comes in a variety of flavors.  You can also substitute crackers for veggies if you are going low carb.

#2: Sunflower Seeds

A great source of essential fatty acids and vitamins, such as vitamin E, sunflower seeds make a great mid morning snack. Healthy fats are an important part of good eating and since sunflower seeds are calorie dense, they can help keep you fuller, longer. 1/4 cup serving is all you need!

#3: Rice Cake and Peanut Butter

Peanut butter is another nutrition packed spread that can help fight hunger throughout the day. Since it's also calorie dense, adding it to low calorie rice cakes makes for a perfect pair. It's also good if you are craving a bit of a crunchy snack.

#4: Apples

A classic, but don't let that keep you from the juicy, satisfying apple. It's easy to take anywhere, you can eat it by itself or with some cheese or peanut butter for a more complex snack. The apple is always a healthy choice.

#5: Assorted Veggies and Fruits

The assorted veggie and fruit snack is great because you can mix it up with whatever you like! It's also easy to customize and change around for variety so you don't get bored with it. Eat them as is, or add a dip of your choice, just be mindful of portions.

For nutrition count, this can vary depending on the veggies or fruit you chose. This is an estimate based on the image provided.
